Relaxation is Time Travel: The Power of Calm Presence Beyond Space and Time

Today in my restorative yin yoga teacher training, something clicked - something I've felt intuitively but hadn't fully understood. When we talk about "energy" or "holding space," what does that truly mean?
A person shared a story:
When he first started teaching seniors yoga, he noticed people yawning during class. At first, he worried, thinking they might be bored or tired. But then he learned yawning signifies the activation of the parasympathetic nervous system—the system responsible for rest, digestion, and deep relaxation. His class was helping people genuinely rest.
That moment hit me deeply:
One person's state of being can shift the energy of an entire room.
Think about yawning: when one person yawns, others inevitably follow. This isn't random; it’s a reflection of our interconnected nervous systems, a ripple effect. We mirror and absorb the energies around us. If someone is calm, relaxed, and at ease, they become an anchor, offering a living example of possibility and ease.
I realized this is what people mean when they say I have "good energy." It isn't magic—it's nervous system regulation. Because I breathe deeply, move gently, and rarely get triggered, my presence invites others into relaxation. This isn’t about complex poses or perfect advice—it's simply being relaxed enough that others instinctively feel safe to relax as well.
This is what "holding space" truly means—an invisible invitation:
"It's safe here. You can rest."
Now imagine expanding this further:
One person walks into a room, and the whole frequency shifts. The air feels softer; breathing deepens; time seems to slow down.
Yet it isn’t limited to a single moment or space. If we see time and space not as linear or fixed but fluid and interwoven, each moment of true presence affects the entire timeline. Each deep breath doesn't just transform a single instant—it reshapes the entire energetic fabric of reality.
There's no "space" or "time" in the traditional sense. When we relax deeply, we alter the very field of potential across all existence. Every time we choose calm over reaction, we rewrite stories—not just ours but the collective narrative as well.
Quantum physics and ancient mysticism both highlight this truth: the present moment is not isolated—it encompasses all moments. Your energy shift ripples across the past, present, future, and all unseen dimensions.
Just as one yawn ripples through a room, your deep relaxation ripples through the universe. When you relax profoundly, you become a portal, no longer bound by time or space, influencing the interconnected web of existence itself.
Thus, when you affirm:
"I am calm. I am the ocean. I am deeply relaxed."
You aren’t merely soothing yourself momentarily—you're soothing generations, shaping possibilities yet unborn.
Especially now, when everything seems fiery and constantly shifting, the best gift I can offer the world is remaining centered. No matter what happens around me, I stay centered. I observe and experience life without reacting impulsively, anchoring this frequency in the timeline.
Holding this frequency—calm, aware, and centered—is perhaps the greatest contribution any of us can make. This is how we truly heal and transform the world, not by rushing to fix everything but by being the medicine itself, embodying calmness as our deepest truth.
In yoga, we always say "Namaste" at the end of class or chant "Namaha," meaning it’s not really about us—it’s not for me alone. We practice for the entire eternal timeline, for the entire present moment of the universe. Namaste.💚
